Garden Planting Derby

We select our plants from the best plant nurseries in the East Midlands area to ensure they are of the highest quality.
Planting schemes are remarkably diverse, and to make sure you get the right plants to suit your tastes, we ask the following questions:
- What are your colour preferences? Some clients like hot colours such as reds or oranges. Some clients prefer cooler colour shades such as pastel shades of whites, pinks, blues, and purples.
- How much garden maintenance do you want to do? If you want a low-maintenance garden then we can plant plants that do not require a lot of attention such as geraniums, hardy perennials, bamboo, and tall grasses.
- Do you like plants that have a lot of foliage? Plants that have a lot of foliage can create an exotic feel to your garden. Examples of these types of plants include globe artichokes, elephant’s ears, hostas, and ferns.
- Do you like scented plants? It can be very relaxing to sit in a garden filled with lovely aromas, and scented plants attract butterflies, and bees. So, in a scented garden, we would plant flowers such as wisteria, lavender, buddleia, and sweet peas.
- Do you dream of having a sensory garden? Sensory gardens appeal to our five senses – hearing, sight, taste, touch, and smell. So, lavender, and mint provide sweet scents, and soft leaves. Rose plants are used for their shiny leaves, and colourful flowers. Ornamental grasses provide gentle sounds when they blow in the wind, and also give different types of textures. Curry plants, and other herbs provide a beautiful aroma. Camomile has a soothing fragrance, and the flowers are edible.
- Do you want a garden where children could get involved in the gardening? Gardening has so many benefits for children. It connects them to nature, and the environment. Gardening also allows children to learn more about nature, and the environment, whilst providing them with fun and engaging activities. Many plants are relatively easy for children to grow such as sunflowers, cress, peas, and sweet peas.
- Do you want a vegetable area? Imagine growing your own vegetables which not only save you money but also allow you to enjoy homegrown food. We can design beautiful vegetable gardens using raised beds.
- Do you want a soft fruit area? Soft fruits don’t need much space, and reach maturity quite quickly. Soft fruits include strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
- Do you like woodland gardens? Woodland gardens provide shade during hot spells, and provide privacy. Taller trees act as a windbreak. Woodland gardens also reduce noise pollution, attract wildlife, and create a calming environment.
- Do you want a wildflower garden? A wildlife garden has several benefits such as attracting more wildlife into your garden such as butterflies, and bees. Wildflowers also enhance the ecosystem in your garden, and they are also relatively easy to grow, and maintain. They are also generally drought-resistant.
- Do you want a water garden or want to include a water feature? Water features have many benefits. They enhance your garden by adding texture, sound, and movement. They also reduce noise pollution due to the calming sound of running water. They create an attractive point of interest in a garden, and can even make your garden appear larger due to the reflective nature of water. It attracts wildlife such as insects, birds, and frogs. It enhances air quality as it adds oxygen, and humidity.
We also consider the soil type in your garden, and this can be altered if required.
Some clients want to attract wildlife into their garden, so this also needs to be considered when planning the planting scheme.
Some clients want their garden to be drought-resistant.
Alternatively, some clients may want additional drainage in their gardens due to increased rainfall.
